Along with many other outdoor sports and events, British Eventing affiliated events have experienced an unprecedented amount of disruption, leading to over seventy days of competition lost from the 2012 calendar. Sixteen days of competition have been added to the BE calendar and other additional possibilities are being constantly explored. BE would like to take this opportunity to reassure the sport’s audience that due to the Abandonment Insurance scheme, Members are being refunded for their entry fees for events that have had to cancel. They state: "Organisers retain the entry fees paid by competitors whilst the competitor receives a refund of their entry fee (this is the total fee paid less the abandonment insurance premium element of 9.5%). "At this point we are only just over half-way through the season. Currently there are still around 4,000 entries available around the country for events running in July at all levels of competition from BE80 to CIC3* plus three further months of competition. We are also looking at the practicality of extending the season into November. "Regarding the cancellation of the Festival of British Eventing at Gatcombe, we are currently investigating all options for these important Championships and will continue to keep Members updated via the BE website: www.britisheventing.com "
