Hall Place Equestrian Centre, Reading, Berkshire Riders Of The Year 2011 PDF Print E-mail
Wednesday, 18 July 2012 15:13

Presentations of Rider of the Year Awards 2011 were made at the Hall Place Easter Show Jumping.  Accumulator points are awarded for three challenges to all those placed 1st to 6th at Hall Place shows throughout the year.

Junior Royle Rider 2011 was presented by sponsor Kevin Royle of RPE Events, to the best 16 years and under – Georgie Jones from Caversham Heights with 75 points.  Georgie, riding her own ‘Autumn’ is trained at Hall Place.  She plans to do further dressage, show jumping and cross country in 2012 and has a longer term ambition to be an equine physio!  Georgie is very attached to her pony and said ‘Autumn is a sweetie and always tries her hardest’.

The winners of the show jumper of the year were Chloe Cross, Corrie Knowles and Katie Turner-Stephenson all with 48 points.  Chloe age 15 from Chieveley competed with Bandit and Lady May.  Corrie Knowles, from Emmer Green, competed on her New Forest pony – Sunnydale Drifter II.  ‘Drifter’ and Corrie compete at local shows and are members of the Woodland Hunt Pony Club.  Corrie’s confidence has been boosted and they aim to start jumping at the next level.  Katie Tuner-Stephenson, with sister Georgie, were successful in 2011 riding Ruby, Smartie Pants and Levy.  Older sister Leanne, manager of Hardwick Stud, is their coach and said ‘My father and I are so proud of the girls, they have been training really hard and it’s paid off!’

The winning Dressage Rider was Susy Stark with 63 points.  Susy came to Reading from Wales in 2010 as a Trainee Instructor with her 5 year old Welsh Section D, Otis.  This handsome horse has been produced by Susy since a yearling and this talented young rider has recently become a senior instructor.  Her aim is to run her own riding school in the future.

Well done to these hard working, enthusiastic and dedicated competitors.  Hall Place, Reading, is looking forward to another year of tough competition for the 2012 championship titles.
