Look out for a Central Horse News Best Rider (*Previously Stylish Rider) qualifier class taking place at a local show near you during 2012

The Central Horse News Stylish Rider championships has now been renamed the Central Horse News Best Rider Championships, and the great news is that this change means you can qualify at a larger number of shows across the region who will offer qualification within their existing Best Rider classes
Qualification for our Championships, which will be held in Autumn 2012 or Spring 2012 (date and venue tbc), is open to Seniors and Juniors, riding Horse and Ponies of any height. The first two placed competitors will qualify for the Championship. In the event of these two riders having already qualified, the qualification will pass down the line.
Rules for qualifying classes will be as per individual shows' rules as listed on their schedules.
Rules for the CHN Best Rider Championships only: The Judges is looking for the RIDERS who demonstrate the most pleasing overall impression of horsemanship throughout the class. Important Note: The horse is not being judged in this competition. However, it should be pointed out that a well turned out horse being ridden correctly will often give the impression of quality. As often seen, a well ridden “ugly duckling” can appear to be the most elegant swan.
- The Class is judged on the rider, with bonus marks for the amount of effort put into 'turnout'
- Horses and ponies to be ridden in a snaffle bridle but martingales will be permitted.
- Boots are permitted but, if worn, will be marked as part of the general turnout.
- Plaiting is recommended unless your horse/pony is hogged or a native/traditional.
- Brightly coloured numnahs and leatherwork are not recommended
