Oaksey Night Fun Ride

Posted on Monday, April 22, 2013 by Heather Dodd

The Oaksey Fun Ride is an event with a difference, for as well as encouraging riders to take part during the day, a night ride is also planned.

Have a great day out with your horse or pony, while supporting the VWH and the IJF. Enjoy the gentle rolling Cotswold countryside, through woods, fields and down tracks; a wonderful environment to ride safely off road. Oaksey has a rich history for horses, having been home to Steeplechases and Hunter Trials going back well over 100 years.

For the more adventurous there is a Night Ride around a shortened course if weather permits. “We will be making the most of this years summer solstace and simultanious full moon” explain the organisers.

The First Ride is at 10am, and the last at 10pm.  All income is being shared between the Injured Jockeys Fund and The VWH Hunt.

The Broom Polo Teams at Tumpy Green’s 10th Anniversary

The Friends of Tumpy Green held their second Annual Demonstration Evening recently and it was an extra special occasion which also celebrated ten years of Renee and Naomi Watkins running the Riding School at Cam in Gloucestershire.

It was a real family fun evening which included Broom Polo, a back health demonstration by Rachel Harber, a shoeing demo by Simon Vatcher,  a quadrille display by Renee, Naomi, Tammy & Tanya, ferret racing, Shetland racing and a driving display.

Friends of Tumpy Green is a group of volunteers who aim to fund raise, socialise and support Tumpy Green Equestrian Centre and last year they donated £1000 to the Great Western Air Ambulance through a wide range of activities from sponsored rides and dog shows, to wine tastings.

During the demonstration evening Renee and Naomi were presented with a special certificate marking their 10th year of running a Riding School. They were also presented a book of memories, which included photos through the years, and special memories from those who have ridden at the school over the last 10 years.

The evening was a great success and reflected how strongly everyone feels about supporting Tumpy Green Equestrian Centre. There was a huge sense of pride from all involved.
