St. James’s Place Barbury Horse Trials Box Office Now Open

Posted on Thursday, March 29, 2018 by Heather Dodd

Tickets are now on sale for the St James’s Place Barbury Horse Trials (5-8 July 2018).

Sponsored by St James’s Place Wealth Management, the event, spectacularly sited on the Marlborough Downs in Wiltshire, is one of the highlights of the equestrian calendar. With classes running from novice to CIC3* level, St James’s Place Barbury attracts a huge international entry that boasts many of the world’s top horses and riders.

The feature class is a leg of the thrilling Event Rider Masters series – the big-money televised competition that is bringing new audiences to the sport of eventing and is hugely popular with riders and spectators alike.

St James’s Place Barbury has a fresh look for 2018, with considerable improvements to the site layout, making it more compact and easier to navigate. The start and finish of the cross-country place has been relocated. Opportunities for amateur riders have been increased: the new arena eventing classes at 90cm and 100cm were so popular last year that they have been moved to the weekend and will be held on both Saturday and Sunday.

Event director Martyn Johnson said: “We are really excited about this year’s St James’s Place Barbury, which will have a newlook and feel to it.

“The sporting action is second to none – we always get a vast entry and more international horses run at Barbury than at any other event in the country. This year the CIC2* classes will showjump in the main arena, giving these horses and riders valuable exposure to the special atmosphere of a major event.”

Iain Rayner, Joint Chief Operating Officer at St. James’s Place, said: “This is one of the most eagerly anticipated occasions in the eventing calendar and St. James’s Place is delighted to provide its support for another year.  Everyone involved can look forward to seeing some of the best riders and horses in action while enjoying the wonderful surroundings of the Barbury arena.”
