The Melton Hunt Club Ride 2019 attracts highest number of entries for 10 years

Posted on Wednesday, January 30, 2019 by Sasha Melia

The lure of the Vale of Belvoir’s enviable turf has attracted the highest number of entries since Joey Newton took over as Chairman in 2009, “Sponsored by Chestnut Horse Feeds and supported by Retraining of Racehorses we have 60 entries and are confident of a strong field of starters this Sunday,” said Joey.

“We’ve riders coming from as far as Ireland and Northumberland to compete with several first-timers, some as young as 19, plus experienced competitors including veterans, all keen to take on the challenge.  The battle of the sexes will also be interesting to watch with 25 women riding versus 35 men!”  All of this will make for an exciting spectacle.”  The Ride has stayed true to the original aims of its founders in 1955 and has successfully opened up new country as part of the route set around 6 markers.
