Winchester House School enjoyed another successful National Schools Hunter Trials on Sunday 12th May with over 150 entries and in excess of 50 schools taking part.

In the Mini Team Competition held in a separate arena, the youngest competitor, Skye Kay from Winchester House School, was just 5 years old, and went effortlessly clear. The Novice, Intermediate and Open Classes all enjoyed a challenging and exciting cross country course of 24 fences, which included a Water Splash and Bank Complex.

Particular congratulations to Harriet Getley from WHS who won the Intermediate Individual Class, Sophie Fearn from Southam College who won the Open Individual, Jack Steele and Toby Thame from WHS who won the Novice Pairs, and winning Novice Team combination, Molly Daniels, Alison Wilson, Katie Lee and Jack Lloyd from Beachborough School.

The event ran extremely smoothly and on time, under the watchful eye of Winchester House School Equestrian Manager and organiser, Nikki Atkinson, and Foxhill Farm owner, Lesley Smith.

One visiting mother said “It’s been a lovely day and very well organised. We’re looking forward to coming again next year’.

Another said “Just a quick thank you to everyone that helped yesterday at the hunter trials. My daughter  came to Foxhill Farm for the hunter trials.  She had a great day out … I must complement you on the organisation and all the people were helpful and a pleasure to meet.  Our class ran without a hitch, even possibly early. Unheard of, but a very pleasant change. My daughter is looking forward to going to another event, and definitely would love to come back to this one next year. Big thanks!”

Foxhill Farm once again provided a beautifully constructed course against a stunning backdrop. The sun shone all morning and even when the heavens opened in the afternoon, the spirits weren’t dampened. A big thank you to all the sponsors, and in particular the main sponsor, Savills for their continued support. Thank you also to Porsche Silverstone who kindly provided a Porsche Cayenne that was used to distribute well needed refreshments to the fence judges. There was also a Porsche 911 and Porsche Panamera on display, which attracted a lot of attention from parents and children alike!

Mark Seymour, Headmaster of WHS said “It’s hard to imagine a better event: happy smiling competitors in a wonderful setting on a superb course and all expertly organised. A wonderful day.”

We have really enjoyed our show jumping and XC training with Bloxham School.  Mikey is rather forward going which always makes things fun, I have worked hard on slowing him down to a sensible pace and was really pleased to have received no time penalties at the WHS Hunter Trial.”
