Faye Adams Qualifies for Fairfax Winter JA Classic

Posted on Friday, January 24, 2014 by Heather Dodd

16 year-old Faye Adams from the West Midlands on board Some Like It Hot, 15 year-old chestnut mare, owned by Julie Adams took a qualifying spot in the Fairfax Winter JA Classic Championship held at Hand Equestrian Centre in Clevedon, Avon as part of their 148cms Pony Premier Show last weekend (18th January 2014)

Competitors starting out in this class were all hoping to claim one of the three direct qualifying places on offer for the Fairfax Winter JA Classic Championship. The lucky winner of the Championship will be presented with a Fairfax Jump saddle, as used by top international showjumper, Peter Charles. The Championship will be held at the Charles Stanley British Masters 3* International Horse Show (3rd – 6th July 2014).

Of the twenty-three starting combinations, only four went on to contest the final jump off, in which just one treble clear was produced.

Faye and Some Like It Hot, finished the final jump off with 8 faults in a quick time of 40.02 seconds.

The treble clear and eventual win was delivered by 14 year-old Charlie Dawson from North Humberside and she was on board Destavelars Misty, an 11 year-old dun mare owned by Vanessa Townsend. The combination secured their immaculate treble clear in a fast time of 38.04 seconds. Leonie Aitkenhead (15) from Lincolnshire took second place with Newtown Samson, a 12 year-old dun gelding owned by Beverley Aitkenhead. This combination collected an unfortunate 4 faults in the jump off, but their time of 39.91 seconds was enough to ensure a top two finish.

Saturday 18th January 2014 – Fairfax Winter JA Classic Championship Qualifier Results:

1st Charlie Dawson & Destavelars Misty – 0/0/0 – 38.04 seconds
2nd Leonie Aitkenhead & Newtown Samson – 0/0/4 – 39.91 seconds
3rd Faye Adams & Some Like It Hot – 0/0/8 – 40.02 seconds
