GBR TEAM ALL SET FOR THE MEYDEN FEI EUROPEAN ENDURANCE CHAMPIONSHIP FOR YOUNG RIDERS AND JUNIORS

Posted on Friday, July 20, 2018 by Sasha Melia

Endurance GB is delighted to confirm the entries for the Meydan FEI European Endurance
Championship for Young Riders and Juniors, due to take place in San Rossore, Pisa (ITA)
on the 25th and 26th July 2018. The following combinations have been confirmed to
represent Great Britain:
Charlie Chadwick on her own Hazelcroft Gosens Tsar
Kate Atkinson on DNS Ronaldo, owned by Kate’s mother Rachael Atkinson
Ollie Holman on Bronze Nahdir, owned by Harry Ingram
Athletes must be aged between 14 and 21 and horses must be a minimum of eight years old
in order to compete at the Regional Championship. The 120km course is made up of four
loops of 33km, 28km, 31km and 28km respectively. Pre-Ride vetting takes place at 4pm on
the 25th July and the ride itself will start at 6.30am on the San Rossore Race Course (Pisa,
ITA). FEI Medals are on offer for both team and individual podium placings with a prestigious
Best Condition Trophy also to be won.
This will be Kate Atkinson’s third Championship, her second with selected mount DNS
Ronaldo. They will be looking to better their result this year and continue the excellent recent
form seen with this talented pair.
Charlie Chadwick with Hazelcroft Gosens Tsar will be tackling their second Championship
course together. This combination were selected to represent Great Britain in 2016 where
they travelled to Portgual as part of the British Team. An unlucky result saw their dream end
at the second vet gate – so Charlie will be keen to put some demons to bed. Charlie and
Tsar have been competing at International level together since 2014 so they know each
other well and are sure to put in a great performance this time around.
A new combination in 2018 is Ollie Holman and Bronze Nahdir and they’ve certainly arrived
with a bang! Ollie has been competing in FEI competitions for just two years and has only
been partnered with Bronze Nahdir since the end of last season. They have a perfect record
this year competing two CEI2*, both finishing in first place. Whilst they may be a new
combination, Bronze Nahdir is more than used to the International scene having been
competing in FEI Competition since 2014.
Chef d’Equipe, Jo Chisolm, commented: “We are really happy with the team for
this Championship – we have a great mix of experience, up and coming riders and
new combinations to this level”.
The GBR Young Rider team is being supplied team kit by sponsor Musto so they will be
looking super smart to represent their country at this prestigious event. Further information
on the event itself can be found on www.endurancelifestyle.it

EQUIGLO brand ambassadors named

Posted on Wednesday, July 18, 2018 by Sasha Melia

EQUIGLO Horse Feeds has announced its first brand ambassadors, giving support to riders across the country – from those happy to continue at grassroots level to others with their sights fixed firmly on greater things. Each has a passion for equine nutrition and ensuring their horses and ponies benefit from a healthy, fibre-based diet – including EQUIGLO Quick Soak 10 MINUTEBEET. They are riders who enjoy their life in the saddle, take part in a wide range of equestrian activities and kick on for a place in the ribbons.

A brand of Henry Bell & Co (Grantham), EQUIGLO has named seven ambassadors:

  • Emma Greenaway, 16, from Closworth, Somerset, enjoys showing and riding her 16.3hh thoroughbred ex-racehorse Stonesinmypocket (Jake) inthe South Western Dressage Group and the Pony Club’s Cattistock Hunt branch. “Parading in the RoR (Retraining of Racehorses) class in the main ring at the Yeovil Show is something I will never forget,” said Emma.
  • Jessica Bosworth, from Hethersgill, near Carlisle, Cumbria, and her 16hh ex-racehorse Humourous (Homi) belong to Ellen Valley Riding Club, Cumbria, and enjoy dressage, hunting, jumping and hacking. Jessica is jumping again after a riding accident left her with prolapsed disks in her lower back. “I have had to regain my confidence in jumping,” she said. “It has taken six years and lots of support from my riding club instructor.”

Bracken Parkhouse, 11, from Retford, Nottinghamshire, and a member of Tickhill Riding Club, is one of 25 young dressage riders named by Horse & Hound as a possible future Charlotte Dujardin. She has three ponies – Gallois Champagne Charlie (Charlie), an 11hh Welsh Section A, HywiSara (Sara),a 12.2hh Welsh Section C, and Bathleyhills Vue Parfaite (Rodger), a14.2hh German riding pony. Bracken will represent England at the British Dressage Home Internationals for the second year running this August. “My ponies are my life,” she said.

  • Melaney Baker, from Carterton, Oxfordshire, has been riding for 28 years and owns two horses – Skye, a 15.1hh Irish mare, and Jazz, a 14.2hhWelsh D mare who suffers from laminitis, needing careful management in the summer months. “Skye and I have been a dream team for 11 years,” said Melaney. “She constantly jumps double clears in British Showjumping classes up to 105cm, while Jazz won West Oxfordshire Riding Club’s Pony of the Year title in 2016 and 2017.”
  • Tanya Southworth, from Truro, Cornwall, has three pure-bred Arab horses – Darwen, competing in endurance and showing at county shows, AC Latifa Amirah, her main competition horse, and Macey, who is currently unridden.“I broke Darwen myself and worked him up through the endurance levels,” said Tanya. “Latifa is a pocket rocket at only 14.1hh.”
  • Millie Walters, 14, from Retford, Nottinghamshire, has been riding from the age of two. She and her 14.1hh dapple-grey Irish sport pony, Rathsallagh Earl (Sky), take part in dressage, showjumping, eventing, hunter trials andworking hunter classes. “I’ve competed for Tickhill Riding Club at eight national championships, placed in the top 10 at nearly all of them!” said Millie.
  • Jemma Swinscoe, from Newark, Nottinghamshire, a member of Norton District Riding Club, considers her greatest achievement to be getting her horse Chester loaded on to a trailer. “He used to rear up but, after regular work, is now loading,” she said. “I had previously had an accident on a friend’s horse, making me very nervous, so I have slowly built up my confidence to canter on Chester and trust him.”

“We have been overwhelmed with the response we had from riders wishing to become ambassadors for the EQUIGLO brand,” said Henry Bell & Co commercial manager Simon Parker. “Selecting a core team has been incredibly tough. Our aim is to offer support to equestrians of all ages and of all levels of ability. We are delighted to welcome these seven riders on board and relish the opportunity to work with them.”

EQUIGLO Quick Soak 10 MINUTE BEET is an ideal source of fibre for all horses and ponies, particularly those prone to, or at risk from, laminitis. A convenient and safe feed made from British-grown, non-GM unmolassed beet flakes, it is low in sugar and starch, highly digestible and acts as a natural probiotic for healthy gut function.
