Discover Newmarket searches for a junior tour guide

Children who love horses and enjoy public speaking are being invited to enter a Junior Tour Guide competition at The National Stud.
Tourism hub Discover Newmarket wants youngsters aged between 8 and 16 to submit up to 50 words, explaining why they would make a good tour guide. The winner will receive a family ticket to The National Stud, lunch in the Wavertree’s Coffee Shop worth £50 and have the chance to practice their skills under the expert guidance of Discover Newmarket tour guide Larry Bowden, the only guide in East Anglia to be shortlisted for VisitEngland’s Tourism Superstar 2019 Award. Entries should be emailed to competition@discovernewmarket.co.uk, along with full contact details.
The National Stud is home to impressive stallions, retired National Hunt legends and the potential superstars of the future. Children can visit free with a Blue Peter badge and are given fun quiz sheets to complete as they tour the 500-acre stud farm.

The National Heritage Centre for Horseracing and Sporting Art at Palace House is a former sporting residence of King Charles II. Children can groom ponies on weekends in August and have a go on the racehorse simulator. The venue has also recently been registered as a Children’s University Destination. Palace House is another attraction in Newmarket that allows free entrance to Blue Peter Badge holders.
Newmarket’s July Course is hosting a Family Fun Day on Friday 23rd August featuring sports day races and the Horseplay Roadshow, where children can learn about the sport through role play and interactive games. A very famous bear will also be appearing throughout the day!
