Posted on Monday, September 2, 2013 by Heather Dodd

Beaufort Pony Club Hickstead_Winners for Central Horse News The Beaufort Hunt Pony Club’s first visit to Hickstead for the Pony Club Show Jumping Final saw the team triumph in a tough 21 team competition.

The team of Jasmine Punter (18), Rachel Stanley (21), Leonne George (20) and Mary Spencer (17), all from Wiltshire had earlier won the qualifier back in May and only weeks ago won the Pony Club Team Show Jumping at Gatcombe with the only zero score.

Jasmine was riding Clio V, Rachel; Quidelle Du Reverdy, Leonne George; Skyline II and Mary riding Toby Bevins amazing horse Askan Van Overis (who was the only gelding in the team)!

Twenty-one teams contended the preliminary round, in a bid for 8 places in the international arena final. The course was quite tough and full up to height and on sloping ground, but the girls kept their cool and completed on a zero score (one of only two teams) which guaranteed them one of the eight team places in the championship final in the afternoon. After the team’s  first three riders had jumped in the main arena the commentator announced the Beaufort Hunt Pony Club could not be beaten as they were the only team on zero.

There were Individual placings also for Rachel (2nd), Leonne (5th) and Mary (6th).

It was a fairytale end to an amazing summer for the girls to come home as Hickstead Pony Club Champions 2013 complete with haul of Sashes, Rugs and Rosettes!  It was certainly a memory everyone involved will treasure forever.
