This year’s Burghley XC track was reversed from previous years, making several of the big fences a challenge since they were now placed going up hill. Mark Phillips’ course had fences at maximum width and height but despite this and initial thoughts of how ‘very big’ the course was, it rode well with few retirements. Husband and wife team of Jonelle and Tim Price, from New Zealand but based for many years in the UK, rode stunning rounds XC and SJ, to finish 5th and 2nd respectively. Jonelle posted the fastest time XC with a breathtaking round and was one of only two who went inside the time. She rolled one pole to drop from 3rd to 5th after the SJ. Georgie Spence had an excellent time, finishing 12th, the highest local rider (Wiltshire). Tina Cook from Sussex was the highest placed Brit at 8th, in a top 10 full of Kiwis and Aussies. Michael Jung proved he is the best by winning Burghley at his first attempt.
Nicky Roncoroni, based in Gloucestershire, maintained her superb record at the BYEH Final with a 3rd placing in the 5 Year Olds and a 2nd placing in the 4 Year Olds
